The Club's 17th Annual General Meeting was held last Thursday 17th April and a new Club Captain and Vice Captain duly elected. Pictured below, left to right, are Keith Cresswell (Vice Captain), Roy Clover (Captain) and Tony Tyrrell (Club Secretary/M.D.)
Roy's Drive-In was a success last Friday, and after initially attempting to use a guitar (reminiscent of his days in popular local band "Nick and the Nomads"), he drove a very respectable 227 yards. The sweep winner was Peter 'Jim' Knights and £52.00 was raised for Roy's charity, Macmillan Cancer Support, a great start to his year.

Fynn Valley were victorious in both the Hambro and Tollly matches last Sunday, despite giving away a large number of shots due to a change in the handicap allowances. Next we have Stowmarket at home in the Tolly and Diss away in the Hambro on Sunday 25th May. The first round of the Stenson is at The Suffolk on 3rd May. Spectators/supporters are very welcome at all these events.
A reminder about donations for Jamie Abbott. Jamie is continuing as an amateur for this year and is a very big hope for making the European Tour once he turns professional. Golf, like all sports, is expensive to pursue and Jamie really is worth all the encouragement and help we can give him. Any amount, no matter how small, is very gratefully received and will go towards paying Jamie's entry and travelling expenses. Please contact Paul for more details (01473) 785463 Option 2 or email paul@fynn-valley.co.uk

Fynn Valley Golf Club became the first Ipswich golf club to install new high tech golf buggies equipped with Global Positioning Systems.
A hole by hole plan of the course has been mapped into a computer which is linked via satellite to a display screen in each buggy. The plan of each hole is displayed and, when the golfer arrives at his ball, the yardage to the flag is shown on the screen, making shot selection quicker and easier. Golfers may even use the system to order drinks and refreshments in advance as they approach the Club House after nine holes or at the end of their round, or to summon assistance in case of illness or indeed to resolve a rule dispute or any other difficulties.
A golf society hiring the whole fleet can also enter their scores into the computer hole by hole as they play and a leader board for the group may be brought up on screen.
The central computer in the Pro Shop also enables the golf staff to monitor the progress of each buggy and ensure that the correct speed of play and procedures are being followed, with the added advantage that, should all the buggies be in use, it is possible to tell at a glance when the next one is to become available.
Fynn Valley's Managing Director, Tony Tyrrell, believes that, as well as being useful to the golfer in helping to improve his shot selection and scores, the new buggies will also add a little more fun and enjoyment to a round of golf.
Please contact Fynn Valley on 01473 785463 for more details or to book a buggy for your next round!
