Fynn Valley Golf Course
Details of the course at Fynn Valley.
Hole 18 Hole 2
325 Yards Par 4
A dog leg right which requires a mid to long iron from the tee aimed between the bunkers. This leaves a short to mid iron across the water to the green which is protected on the left by water and the right by out of bounds.
Pro's Tip - Play approach for centre of green.
Hole 1 Hole 3
175 yards Par 3
Probably the most straightforward of the par 3 holes: a mid to long iron avoiding the bunkers that surround the green.
Pro's Tip - Aim just left of right hand greenside bunker.
Hole 2 Hole 4
387 yards Par 4
Usually played into the wind and up hill, this hole plays much longer than it suggests. A tee shot towards the marker post will leave a long second to a green which is protected by a huge bunker right of the green and the pond beyond.
Pro's Tip - An approach played for the front left of the green pays dividends.
Hole 3 Hole 5
420 yards Par 4
A tough par 4 when played from the white tee, a tee shot avoiding the out of bounds on the left will leave a long second shot to the green which must miss the two bunkers which are short and right.
Pro's Tip - Aim for left edge of green and watch the ball bounce to the right.
Hole 4 Hole 6
462 yards Par 4
Short hitters are advised to aim left, keeping away from the out of bounds along the corner of this sharp dog leg right. The approach to the green must avoid a bunker at the right of the green.
Pro's Tip - Approach the green from the left side of the fairway to help avoid the bunker.
Hole 5 Hole 7
146 yards Par 3
This re-designed downhill par 3 is played from an elevated tee. Two large bunkers short of the green and one to the right make an accurate shot important.
Pro's Tip - Be bold, a well hit shot will hold the green.
Hole 6 Hole 8
372 yards Par 4
A dog leg right. The tee shot should be aimed towards the left hand bunker on top of the hill. The bunker is around 230 yards from the tee, so long hitters need to club down accordingly. The approach to the green plays longer than it looks, so be bold.
Pro's Tip - Don't try to cut the corner off the tee.
Hole 7 Hole 9
150 yards par 3
One of the hardest holes to par on the course. Looks straightforward from the tee, but the green slopes severely from right to left, with 3 putting normal and four putting a possibility.
Pro's Tip - Tee shot must be short and left of the flag.
Hole 8 Hole 10
528 yards Par 5
An uphill dog leg to the right. The second shot is played over the brow of the hill, and best played slightly left to avoid the big bunker 100 yards short of the green. This leaves a simple approach to a huge double green shared with the 18th.
Pro's Tip - Keep that second shot left.
Hole 9 Hole 11
400 yards Par 4
This hole is normally into the wind and requires two good hits to reach the green. Take enough club for the approach as anything short will be claimed by the front bunkers.
Pro's Tip - A drive down the left avoids sand and gives a good angle to the green.
Hole 10 Hole 12
515 yards Par 5
A tee shot aimed at the grey path across the ditch should position you well for this hole. The hole sweeps around to the left, over the ditch, leaving a tough approach to a small and wickedly undulating green.
Pro's Tip - An approach shot aiming front left of the green will finish close to the flag.
Hole 11 Hole 13
356 yards Par 4
Uphill slight dog leg right. A huge bunker awaits a drive struck to the left. A large pond immediately in front of the green, which is also bunkered to the right.
Pro's Tip - If you don't get your tee shot away successfully, lay up short of the pond and attempt a chip and a putt for your par.
Hole 12 Hole 14
525 yards Par 5
A sharp dog leg left with out of bounds all the way down the left hand side. A tee shot over the marker post will leave a lay up shot into the fairway. The green is protected by a ditch each side.
Pro's Tip - Approach towards the back of the green, despite it leaving a difficult putt.
Hole 13 Hole 15
211 yards Par 3
Probably the toughest hole on the course. The front of the green is protected by a pond, a ditch and bushes. Once you get to the green it slopes severely from back to front.
Pro's Tip - Take an extra club to take the trouble short of the green out of play.
Hole 14 Hole 16
390 yards Par 4
A sharp dog leg left. The tee shot needs to be either short or right of the big bunker that is around 230 yards from the tee. Approach is played to a green that slopes from front to back and is protected by several bunkers on the left.
Pro's Tip - Leave a full approach shot to make holding the green easier.
Hole 15 Hole 17
355 yards Par 4
The tee shot requires care to avoid the left hand bunkers and long hitters may club down to do this. The approach is protected by a ditch short of the green and bunkers either side.
Pro's Tip - Keep the tee shot just right of the marker post.
Hole 16 Hole 18
192 yards Par 3
The beginning of two very tough finishing holes is a Par 3 played across the valley to an undulating green. Beware of an extremely deep bunker 20 yards short of the green.
Pro's Tip - Avoid that bunker, even if it means laying up.
Hole 17 Hole 1
452 yards Par 4
Out of reach in two shots except for the longest hitters. Tee shot needs to avoid fairway bunkers left and right. The hole then sweeps around to the left onto the double green shared with the 9th.
Pro's Tip - Don't be greedy, play the hole as a three shotter and remember that a five is a good score.
